The Hope Anchor Hotel
Watch Bell Street
Directions by Road:
Rye is located about three miles from the coast, 12 miles east of Hastings, near the county border and at the meeting of the Rivers Rother, Tillingham and Brede. It is located at the junction of the A259/A268.
The A21/A268 provides access from London and the M25 (from Gatwick or Heathrow Airports). The M20/A2070/A259 provides access from Dover, the Channel Tunnel Cheriton Terminal and the M25 (from the Dartford Crossing and the A20 alternative route from London).
From the A268 circumnavigate Rye clockwise via the A259 (Hastings Road); as you notice yachts on your left, turn right into Wishward; drive up Mermaid Street, turn right into West Street and then right again into Watch Bell Street. The Hope Anchor is at the end of the road.
Alternatively, via Landgate Arch (60 ft archway into the town), drive up the hill, first left into East Street, first left again (before the Town Hall) into Church Square, first right into Watch Bell Street.
As We are in the citadel of a Medieval Town, parking is residential only, we do not own nor control it, but we do offer residential parking permits to our guests free of charge. The parking permits allow parking directly outside of the hotel and adjacent along Watchbell Street.
From London (Charing Cross), Dover or Paris change trains at Ashford International and connect with the train to Rye. Rye train station is about a five minute walk to our hotel, or there is a taxi rank directly outside of the station.
